Sharp-eyed viewers point out Gomez’s first name spray-painted on a graffiti-filled wall in the background of the new video. The wall also features the words “love” and “hope.” The 21-year-old debuted the video on Sunday, shortly after he performed the new single for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards in an emotional performance. Gomez’s name appears in a scene where Bieber and model Xenia Deli wind up at a skate park. On Monday, however, Bieber refuted the story, saying, “I think that might be fake,” before adding, “it wasn’t me that did that.” The former couple had a tumultuous on-and-off relationship before finally calling it quits for good in 2012.
