The 22-year-old took some time during his concert to talk to his fans
Justin Bieber does not want your hat.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter had a few words for the crowd during his Purpose World Tour concert at Boardwalk Hall Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Friday night.
“Take this moment to listen and try not to give me a hat or whatever you’re trying to throw onto the stage right now, because I probably don’t want that s–t,” he said in a video captured by a fan.
The crowd erupted in cheers before Bieber clarified that he didn’t mean to be rude. “Sorry that was mean,” he told the crowd.
He appeared to continue to talk about stage gifts, in another clip posted to Twitter by a different fan, and he echoes the same apology before continuing, “But yeah, no I lost what I was going to say,” he said. “I was deep into, like, a mode and a zone. I was – I was into it. Now I’m out of it. I’ll get it back. Just give me a second.”
After a brief pause, he got it back.
“I just wanted to take this moment to acknowledge the fact that we all have a purpose, that we all have a meaning to life and it’s not, like, we just don’t live to die,” he said in the clip. “And this life is not all struggles. I know that sometimes when we wake up in the morning, and it’s like ‘God another day.’ ”

The same Twitter user posted another clip showing Bieber transitioning this pep talk with his thousands of attendees into his hit song, “Purpose.” “Sorry for throwing your hat,” he says to the fan. “But you ruined the moment. Whatever, let’s do it.”
The Purpose tour continues at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Monday and Tuesday.
