When Justin Bieber‘s dad Jeremy weighed in on Twitter about the singer’s nude photos, more than a few eyebrows were raised – but the star is taking it all in stride.

“@justinbieber what do you feed that thing. #proud daddy,” the singer’s father Tweeted on Oct. 9 after photos of his son lounging in the nude while on vacation in Bora Bora circulated the internet. (Jeremy has since deleted the Tweet.)

“I thought it was hilarious,” Bieber told the Zach Sang & The Gang radio show Monday. “It’s such a dad thing to say. When I found out people were hating on him for saying that, I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? What dad wouldn’t be proud of that?’ I’m 21 years old, you know what I mean?”

But while the singer seems to be brushing off the attention from the photos, it still “felt like it was a little bit of an invasion of privacy,” he said. “At the end of the day, the photos, they’re not terrible! But I still felt, like, I wanted to keep that part for me, you know?”

When he first found out about the existence of the photos, “my heart sank,” says Bieber, who says his fans have nicknamed his private parts “Jerry.”

Earlier this month, the singer’s legal team threatened to sue The New York Daily News for publishing the photos.
