The Emmy winner also talks about looking for work beyond Modern Family
What turns Julie Bowen on? Perhaps not surprisingly, it’s a guy who can make her laugh.
“Stephen Colbert!” she replied. “Other than my husband, it’s Stephen Colbert. My hall pass. He’s just so funny.”
PEOPLE’s choice for the title will be revealed Nov. 14. Be one of the first to find out.
Speaking to PEOPLE at Baby2Baby’s first annual gala, where guests sipped Beau Joie champagne and supported the children’s gear and clothing initiative, Bowen, 42, offered an update on her own kids – Oliver, 5, and twins John and Gustav, 3.
As an older brother, “Oliver is actually fantastic,” she said. “They all sleep in the same room now, on the floor. They have beds. They don’t like to sleep in beds. Oliver has stopped calling them John and Other John.”
As for her career, Bowen is clearly blessed – working with TV’s greatest comedy cast, and having just picked up her second Emmy this year. And yet, she says her success hasn’t necessarily led to more work.
“I’m still looking for a hiatus job,” she says. “Apparently women of a certain age if Claire is my last job I will take it. I’m not unhappy.”
She adds: “I’m not trying to figure out ways for the world to see me differently and shave my head and, you know, get busted for drugs or something so that I can be a bad girl.”
