During an appearance on Monday’s episode of Harry, the Dancing with the Stars judge opened up to host Harry Connick Jr. about her upcoming nuptials to the hockey player — and his surprising dedication to nailing the perfect choreography. While she expected him to want to keep things low-key on the dance floor, it turns out he wants to make a splash. “I was always under the impression that we would just get up there and do a little side-to-side dancing,” she says. “But he’s like, ‘No, I want a full-on choreographed routine!’ ” “He’s always wanted to dance,” she adds. “I’m like, ‘Okay, well I’m going to have to teach you, and you’re going to have to listen.’ “ FROM COINAGE: Wedding Etiquette Isn’t Hard, but Just in Case, Here Are 8 Tips Hough, 28, also reveals that when she first started dating Laich, 33, he did everything he could to pick up some of her skills. “I remember he bought this country line dancing DVD,” she says. “He’s always wanted to dance, so he’s like, ‘Hey, will you teach me this move?’ So I’m starting to teach him, and as we’re doing it he’s like, ‘Well, she doesn’t do it like that.’ I was like, ‘Well, I’m a champ!’ “ “We got into this whole thing and I was just like you should just have Derek teach you,” she recalls with a laugh. “And he’s like, ‘I don’t want to dance with your brother!’ “ Hough and Laich announced their engagement in August 2015 after a year and a half of dating. Last month, Hough took to Instagram to gush about her beau. “#MCM Holy Mother of Hotness! This is MY man!” she captioned a photo of the athlete. “But all sexiness aside, I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you by my side to do life together. Can’t wait to marry you! #love #luckyme.” Harry airs weekdays (check local listings), and Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
