Julia Stiles‘ life always seems to be in danger when she acts in the Bourne film series as Nicky Parsons.

But in an ironic twist, Stiles discovered that reality can be more dangerous than fantasy when she suffered a “freak accident” during a break from filming across the pond earlier this year.

“When we were shooting in London I was hit by a motorcycle,” Stiles, 35, told PEOPLE at the premiere of Jason Bourne in Las Vegas Monday.

She’s fine now – as is the motorist – but that wasn’t initially the case at the time of the crash, which occurred on a night off from filming.

“I had a concussion,” she said, adding that she has no recollection of the collision. “I blacked out, but it was just a freak accident.”

The actress, who stars alongside Matt Damon for the fourth time in the series, said she was obeying pedestrian laws and was even crossing the street at a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Fortunately, the Columbia University alum says she didn’t break any bones and even got the next day off to nurse her wounds.

Coincidentally, the fifth installment in the Bourne franchise has a lengthy scene early on involving a motorcycle and Stiles, so it’s almost a bizarre case of fact meets fiction.

“It was very odd,” Stiles admits of the crash.
