Judge Praises Robert Downey

The judge who sentenced movie star Robert Downey Jr. to four months in jail on drug charges and threatened him with a state prison term if he violates his probation is praising the actor for remaining sober. Malibu Judge Lawrence Mira told Downey on Monday, “You’re doing a lot better than you were in the past. You look great. I’m pleased that you’re doing well … Keep up the good work.” The judge ordered Downey to return to court in six months for another progress report. Outside the courtroom, Downey told reporters, “It’s rather different from last year, and I’m just glad to be well … I’m doing really well. I’ve never felt better, actually. I’m glad that he (the judge) agrees.”
