Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson Sees Directing and DJing in His Future
Look out for DJ Monstar!
Peeta has ditched baking for producing.
“It was tough. It was my first time full on producing something from start to finish. It’s really rewarding to see it all come together and you have a final product that you are proud of,” The Hunger Games actor, 23, told PEOPLE.
The Rusted was created as part of Canon’s Project Imagination: The Trailer, a consumer contest helmed by director Ron Howard. Out of hundreds of trailers submitted to the contest, one was chosen by Howard and Hutcherson to be turned into a short film directed by Kat Candler.
Next time, it might be Hutcherson who’s directing.
“I’ve always wanted to be a director, since I was young and first started acting. I have 8 projects right now that I am developing that are all at different stages,” he said of his current plans. “There’s a lot that goes into it before an actor that arrives on set, and I have learned that through this process.”
Teaming up with Howard has also pushed Hutcherson closer to his director dreams: “I would love to emulate his career because I want to become a director as well, and he started out as a child actor. It was surreal to work with him.”
Somehow, between his eight other projects, Hutcherson has still found time to develop another passion.
“I have become obsessed with DJing. For my birthday, my mom got me a DJ mixing board,” he said. “I have been messing around with that almost every single day. I took a DJ class. I am so into it.”
Does DJ Peeta have a named picked out yet?
“Maybe something connected to my childhood. I was obsessed with Space Jam, maybe something in that world. Like DJ Monstar.”
