JonBenet Grand Jury: No Hard Evidence

As the world continues to ask “Who Did It?,” the JonBenet Ramsey grand jury completed its investigation Wednesday and found that there wasn’t enough evidence to file charges against anyone in the case of the 6-year-old beauty queen’s killing. The jury heard evidence in the case for 13 months, during which time many people around the country suspected the murdered little girl’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, to be the culprits. Colorado Gov. Bill Owens said he will review the case and decide whether or not to appoint a special prosecutor. “While I am not presently in a position to comment on the work of this grand jury,” he said, “I do know one fact: A little girl was brutally murdered in Boulder, Colorado, and the killer or killers remain free today.”

  • The Ramseys (who now live in Atlanta) issued a statement Wednesday night, saying “the Ramsey family lives in a nightmare” and asking that the investigation continue. “We take no satisfaction in this result because a child killer remains free and undetected.” For complete PEOPLE coverage of the JonBenet Ramsey story, click here.
