From behind the desk of The Daily Show … to wielding a chair in the WWE ring!

Jon Stewart took his role as host of WWE’s SummerSlam 2015 to the next level on Sunday night, hopping into the Barclays Center ring in Brooklyn, New York, to attack U.S. champion (and Trainwreck star) John Cena.

The 52-year-old, who stepped down from The Daily Show after 16 years earlier this month, intervened during a championship match between Seth Rollins and Cena.

Stewart ran up into the ring, shocking fans by throwing a chair not at Rollins, with whom he’s verbally sparred before, but instead at Cena. The interference allowed Rollins to walk away with the win. The crowd responded with chants of “Thank you, Stewart.”

The Stewart-Rollins “feud” stems back to earlier this year, when the actor teased the athlete online. Rollins subsequently challenged to Stewart to stop by Monday Night Raw – and he did, delivering a swift kick to the heavyweight champ.
