The Aerosmith guitarist looked disoriented as he took to the stage for the concert’s opening song. He then seated himself on the base of the drum kit to continue playing before stumbling backstage and collapsing. The band, which also consists of Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, played on throughout. After a few minutes, Cooper announced to the crowd that “Joe isn’t feeling very well,” and said they would continue the show without him. Halfway through the concert, the entire band walked to the center of the stage and said, “Feel better Joe,” in unison but didn’t give more explanation on his condition. According to PEOPLE reporter Jodi Gugleilmi, who was present at the concert, a concerned backstage crowd rushed toward Perry as he staggered to the wings. NBC News reports that police confirmed Perry, 65, was transported from the The Amphitheater on the Coney Island Boardwalk by ambulance around 9:40 p.m. Perry’s Twitter account shared an update hours after the health scare reassuring fans that Joe was recovering. “Thanks to all of the fans reaching out and asking about Joe,” the tweet read. “He is stable right now, with family and is under the best care.” WATCH: Joe Perry in Stable Condition After Collapsing During Performance with Johnny Depp Cooper also shared an update on the social media site on Joe’s status, echoing that he was being cared for. The Hollywood Vampires also took to Twitter to “wish him a speedy recovery.” More rock luminaries have chimed in with their well-wishes, including Nikki Sixx and Tom Morello. The Hollywood Vampires are next slated to play in Kettering, Ohio, on Tuesday. • Reporting by JODI GUGLIELMI
