When actor Joe Manganiello recently sat down to watch The Revenant, he admits the bear scene was tough to watch.

“I’ll say the cringe was the bear attack, definitely,” the Magic Mike star tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

But Manganiello – newly married to Sofia Vergara, 43 – says he does enjoy watching more intense films with his wife, for the “fun” it creates.

“The fun of it for guys is going to see something scary with your significant other, so they’ll grab on to you,” he says.
