She’s back, and she’s bound to be ruffling plenty of feathers. The long-running CBS soap opera “Guiding Light” has signed former “Dynasty” star Joan Collins, 69, to play Alexandra Spaulding, described by a daytime industry insider as “your typical rich bitch,” reports Variety. The British actress has signed a six-month contract and is expected to make her first appearance on the show in September, although exact details are still being worked out, according to Variety. This is Collins’s first time on a daytime drama. The actress, who has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, is most famous for playing evil Alexis Carrington on the 1980s nighttime soap opera “Dynasty,” a role which earned her a Golden Globe in 1983 and a People’s Choice Award in 1985. Collins last appeared on American television two years ago in “These Old Broads,” a made-for-TV movie costarring Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, and Shirley MacLaine. In March, Collins tied the knot for the fifth time when she married theater executive Percy Gibson, 36.
