Jimmy Fallon Rushed to Hospital After Hand Injury – Tonight Show Friday Episode Canceled
Jimmy Fallon has been hospitalized following a hand injury, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The Tonight Show host is undergoing surgery in New York City on Friday to treat the injury.
“Jimmy Fallon was required to have minor surgery after injuring his hand at his Manhattan apartment this morning,” the rep says. “He is expected to make a full recovery.”
Friday’s taping of the late night show has been canceled due to Fallon’s hospitalization.
“Hey guys,” read a message on the official Fallon Tonight Twitter account Friday. “Unfortunately tonight’s taping has been cancelled due to Jimmy injuring his hand. He’s totally fine but we’ll be airing a repeat.”
The father of two, 40, spent Thursday night posing for photos with fans at Upper East Side Italian restaurant Scalinatella, where, a source tells PEOPLE, Fallon “was having dinner with business associates.”
The Tonight Show goes on a scheduled two-week hiatus starting Monday.
Fallon previously injured his hand two years ago, nearly chopping off a finger in June 2013 while cooking.
“I was cutting tomatoes, I was making salsa. I don’t know why, I should just buy salsa, it’s easily available,” the star joked about the incident in an “Ask Jimmy” segment from when he hosted Late Night.
Fallon said he was treated for the cut at the South Hampton Emergency Room at the time.
