White, 30, attempted suicide shortly after her father, Pat White, died on Sept. 26, 2012, according to TMZ. White was found dead in her Los Angeles home only two days after the third anniversary of her father’s death. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter tells PEOPLE: “There was information initially reported at the scene [of her death] that they thought there was a prior suicide attempt, but they were unable to provide any details.” “We couldn’t find [enough evidence] to verify it,” he added, noting that authorities are no longer actively investigating that lead as it “has very little bearing on this case.” White’s body was released on Monday following the completion of an autopsy. While her cause of death has been “deferred” until a full toxicology report can be completed, PEOPLE has learned that White’s “next of kin” was listed as her husband, Mark Burton, to whom she was married at the time of her death. And according to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, Burton has control of the release of White’s body, and in order for White’s stepmother and sister to take her body back to Ireland, Burton would have to provide his consent. “The next of kin has to relinquish the body to her family,” Winter told PEOPLE. Winter could not confirm if Burton had signed over his rights to the body or whom the body was released to, as it remains a “private family matter.” While little is known about Burton and White’s marriage, a source told PEOPLE that they were separated at the time of her death. “She was going to start divorce proceedings in December,” says the source. According to a marriage license, White and Burton were married on Jan. 15, 2013, in a Las Vegas wedding chapel called “Heavenly Bliss.” News of her marriage came as a shock to many. Sources in her hometown of Cappawhite, Ireland, said few people, including some relatives, were aware she was married. A source close to White’s family tells PEOPLE that funeral plans are underway. Though no date has been set yet for a memorial, the source says White will “be buried with her beloved dad, Pat, in the local cemetery.” White’s sister, who traveled to Los Angeles with her stepmother, has returned to Ireland to prepare for the funeral. White’s body has not arrived in Ireland yet. Authorities have confirmed to PEOPLE that four prescription medications, along with a suicide note addressed to Carrey, were found on the scene at the time of White’s death. “There were four prescriptions: Ambien, Percocet, Propranolol and Zofran [they] were not [written] in her name,” White revealed. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that some of the pills belonged to Carrey and had been prescribed under an alias. “[Cathriona] took them from his house. He had no idea. He wasn’t actively using them and therefore had no idea they were even missing.”
