Jim Carrey plans to attend on-off girlfriend Cathriona White’s funeral in Ireland, PEOPLE can confirm.

A source tells PEOPLE the actor plans to travel to White’s hometown of Cappawhite for the funeral service being held Saturday.

“He is devastated,” a source told PEOPLE. “Jim is doing everything he can to help.”

White was found dead in her Los Angeles home of an apparent suicide. A source close to the actor told PEOPLE that Carrey “keeps questioning if he could have prevented it.”

Family and friends will gather Friday night to pay their respects at a wake before the memorial service. A source close to the family told PEOPLE that White will “be buried with her beloved dad, Pat, in the local cemetery.”
