The late John Kennedy Jr. will serve as the subject of an upcoming TV movie, “America’s Prince: The JFK Jr. Story,” to be aired this December or next January on TBS, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Focusing on the two women in his life, his mother Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, the film will be based upon author Christopher Andersen’s 2000 biography, “The Day John Died.” (TBS, like PEOPLE, is part of AOL Time Warner, and Anderson is a former member of the PEOPLE editorial staff.) Jacqueline Bisset, 57, and “Ally McBeal” actress Portia de Rossi, 29, will play Kennedy’s mother and wife, respectively. No actor has been named to play JFK Jr. Bisset actually played Jackie Kennedy once before, in the soap operatic 1978 movie “The Greek Tycoon,” a thinly veiled fictional account of the former first lady’s marriage to Aristotle Onassis. The new JFK Jr. film is one of two TV biopics about the hunky former first son in the wind but will apparently be the first to air. The other is CBS’s TV movie to be based on Richard Blow’s controversial biography “American Son,” which is still in development. Kennedy was killed on July 18, 1999, along with his wife and sister-in-law, Lauren Bessette, when the small plane he was piloting crashed off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. He was 38.
