Jessica Chastain Poses As Brave's Merida for Disney
"I definitely see her as a modern princess ... headstrong ... funny, [with] great passions," says the Oscar nominee
If Angelina Jolie can play Maleficent in a live-action movie about Sleeping Beauty’s wicked nemesis, what’s to stop Jessica Chastain from grabbing a bow and arrow and stepping into the boots of Brave‘s heroine Merida for celebrated photog Annie Leibovitz?
Nothing, apparently, as the two-time Oscar nominee with her own flowing red locks adds to her mane to take on the guise of the Scottish princess from the 2012 Disney/Pixar favorite.
This latest “Disney Dream Portrait” adds to the all-star gallery started in 2007 as part of the Disney Park advertising campaign. This one carries the theme “Where Your Destiny Awaits.”
“I definitely see her as a modern princess. She’s headstrong, she ‘s funny, she has great passions,” Chastain, 36, told Entertainment Tonight about her new alter ego. “She’s a good role model for little girls.”
Certainly better than Maleficent.
