Chris Hemsworth took the crown in 2014, and David Beckham was Mr. 2015 is Jerry O’Connell next?

The actor and host of PEOPLE’s List is mounting his own, self-funded campaign to become PEOPLE‘s 2016 Sexiest Man Alive – with mixed results.

In this clip from Saturday’s episode of PEOPLE’s List, O’Connell goes right to the source when he barges in to a PEOPLE editorial meeting to make his case.

“I came here to pitch you and your amazing staff! A little surprise here. Now I know the PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive doesn’t happen until November, but I’m here to pitch you – boom! – Jerry O’Connell! Sexiest Man Alive!” O’Connell says, as he whips out a homemade mockup of his cover, and reveals matching campaign shirts and hats.

“Oh, wow,” PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly editorial director Jess Cagle flatly responds, as the bemused editors look on.

“This is a little mockup, no airbrushing here at all,” O’Connell explains, “that’s just a raw photo that I took, uh, got off the Internet.”

Will he be the next Sexiest Man Alive? Find out on this week’s episode of PEOPLE’s List, airing Saturday July 9 at 8/7c on ABC.
