McCarthy says she always thought he was "the hottest one" when she was a boy-band fan
“One afternoon, my son walked into the living room with a piece of paper that read, ‘Will.’ He ran out, then he came back with another piece that said, ‘You.’ Then he came back with another piece that read, ‘Marry.’ Then Donnie walked in wearing a T-shirt that said, ‘Me?’ ” McCarthy reveals. “He was carrying the ring, he got down on his knee in front of Evan, and I said yes.”
McCarthy says the timing is right for the couple to wed, even as she was totally into Wahlberg when he was a boy-band heartthrob from her youth – and one she deemed perhaps a little too bad-boy to look her way.
“The very first time I saw him, I was in eighth grade and New Kids on the Block was on MTV. I was like, ‘Who are they?’ ” McCarthy says. “I thought Donnie was the hottest one but too tough for me, because I was this goody two-shoes. But now when I look at him, I think, ‘I’m totally marrying a New Kid on the Block.’ ”
McCarthy, who poses in the magazine showing off enviably toned legs, arms and abs, shares that the last time she got on a scale was when she left the hospital with her newborn son 11 years ago and found that she had hit 185 pounds. Now she measures her weight by how her jeans feel and says that it “goes up and down a lot.”
Her secret to getting back on track? Hitting the treadmill for some good old-fashioned running, which helped her take off a few pounds after a holiday splurge last year.
“I was on that treadmill every day for 45 minutes,” she said. “I did a moderate pace and kept it there the whole time. After a few weeks, the extra weight dropped off.”
