'Jenny Jones' Verdict Returned

A Michigan jury Thursday returned a second-degree murder verdict in the retrial of a man who shot and killed a gay acquaintance who disclosed a secret crush on him during a 1995 taping of the “Jenny Jones” TV talk show. Jonathan Schmitz, 27, sat with hands clasped and showed no emotion as the verdict was read in Oakland County Circuit Court. His previous conviction for second-degree murder was overturned by an appeals court because of a judge’s error in jury selection.
