Despite a $25 million verdict against her talk show, Jenny Jones told “Dateline NBC” Sunday night that her program is not to blame for the shooting death of a guest who revealed a gay crush on another guest. Said Jones: “Of course I did soul-searching. Of course, after this happened we went back. I thought back about the show, and we all, you know, we all talked about it. We then and now still feel we did nothing wrong . . . I think it’s not fair to blame the show for the actions of someone. That happened three days after they left the show.”
- A jury last week held the show and its corporate owner, Warner Bros., liable in the shooting death of Scott Amedure, who had revealed his attraction to Jonathan Schmitz during a 1995 taping of the program. Schmitz killed Amedure three days later.
