Jennifer Weiner has penned 11 hit fiction titles since the publication of her first novel Good in Bed. But now, the bestselling author – and Bachelor superfan – has written her first nonfiction book. And she’s premiering the book cover exclusively to PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly readers!

Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love and Writing, out October 11, also marks the first time Weiner has appeared on the cover of one of her books. “The book cover looks amazing,” Weiner says. “I stare at it and I’m like, ‘Have I ever looked that good?’ ”

Though the 46-year-old author says her “grasp and gasp” cover pose does make her nervous.

“It’s really scary when you have a great author photo and then you have to go let people see what’s really going on,” she jokes. “I can just picture somebody asking for a refund. ‘That’s not really you! I want my money back.’ ”

Hungry Heart is filled with stories Weiner has long shared with fans while on book tours. ” ‘How did you get your first book published? What was it like having a book made into a movie? How did you find out that your mother liked women now?’ – They’re stories I’ve been telling forever,” she says.

But while the In Her Shoes author may be comfortable telling these stories, she’s not exactly ready for everyone to read them.

“[It’s] slightly terrifying for me, Weiner says. “Because when you write fiction you can be like ‘That never happened. I made that up. I don’t do those things.’ But with this, it’s like ‘I had sex when I was 16 with my boyfriend on the pull-out couch – Sorry, Mom!’ “
