Marc Anthony got some very honest advice from his father when he was younger.
“My dad told me early on, he said, ‘Son, we’re both ugly,’ ” the singer, 46, said on Tuesday’s episode of The Meredith Vieira Show. “I swear to God, he says it to this day. And he goes, ‘You work on your personality. It builds character.’ ”
“Absolutely not. I was born looking at his face – and he was right,” he said jokingly.
Though Anthony is private about the end of his marriage to Lopez, he also told Vieira, 61, he was supportive of Lopez’s decision to write her first book, True Love.
“I was really, really proud of her,” he said. “Only because I know what it took for her to open up like that.”
But that doesn’t mean he’ll be doing the same.
“I don’t talk about it much as a whole; I just think that’s private,” he said. “I really, really do and I never have and I’m not sure I ever will. I don’t think it’s for public consumption. It’s hard enough as it is.”
