Meet Jen Glantz, a 'Professional Bridesmaid' Who's Paid to Attend Weddings

For Jen Glantz, that old “always a bridesmaid” cliché isn’t a knock; it’s her entire business model.

The 26-year-old, is turning the barrage of weddings faced by most people in their late 20s into a lucrative gig. A “professional bridesmaid,” she’ll help plan your wedding, pose in photos and generally be the kind of pleasant, vivacious guest that people wish made up the entirety of their wedding.

A Boca Raton, Florida, native who moved to New York three years ago, Glantz’s a-ha moment came when she was asked to be a bridesmaid in two different weddings within 24 hours. She posed a Craigslist ad advertising her “service” and was quickly swarmed with offers.

Glantz offers four packages ranging from $300 to $1,000. She’s booked far into advance, and is actually looking to hire other bridesmaids to help her expand after a jam-packed weekend that saw her work two weddings – one in Michigan and one in New Jersey. A delayed plane meant Jen had to get ready in an airport bathroom to make it to the church on time.
