Jason Derulo has a lot to say on his new album – and he’s hoping his fans want to listen.

“The album is the story of my life told so vividly that I feel that everyone can see themselves in these stories. It signifies maturation, growth and evolution,” Derulo, 25, tells PEOPLE of his fourth album Everything Is 4. “I am confident that anyone who listens will come away thrilled with the quality of the songs.”

Everything Is 4 is not set to be released until June 2, but PEOPLE has a first listen to six of the songs off the album.

The first listen – part of the MTV & VH1 First campaign launched in partnership with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – includes a duet between Derulo and “Dear Future Husband” singer Meghan Trainor.

“I’m incredibly excited to share my fourth album with the world,” says Derulo. “I am confident that anyone who listens will come away thrilled with the quality of the songs.”
