High-speed, flying shrimp promote Japan's largest wireless carrier

You may have heard of “Rock Lobster,” but how about speeding shrimp?

In a wacky commercial to promote its new LTE network, Japan’s largest wireless carrier, NTT Docomo, utilizes a “shrimp cannon” to demonstrate its fiery high-speed capabilities.

In a scene that’s equal parts Saturday Night Live and Food Network, two goggles-wearing women employ a dual-barreled, pneumatic cannon to shoot bug-eyed shrimp through a series of flour, egg, breading and Godzilla-esque flames – all in slow motion.

The result? The tempura shrimp bounce off a target and onto a garnished plate, hopefully leaving viewers with a craving for a new carrier … or takeout.

Bubba from Forrest Gump may think he knows all the ways to cook a shrimp, but we bet he’s never had it this way.
