After a six-year break from the stage, Janet Jackson is planning a world tour for this fall, reports E! Online.

I’m still promoting the new album (Discipline) right now, she said, but we’ll be getting into rehearsals in about a month and then start touring,” Jackson says.

This Saturday, Jackson will receive the Vanguard Award at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s 19th Annual Media Awards (Jennifer Aniston and Charlize Theron are past award recipients).

The award will be presented by Ellen DeGeneres, a personal favorite of Jackson s.

I absolutely adore her, she said. She s smart. She s funny. She s fun to be around. I really enjoy her.

After two disappointing albums – 2004 s Damita Jo and 2006 s 20 Y.O. – Jackson has returned to the top of the charts with Discipline, her sixth No. 1 album.

Her next goal? Broadway. “I just want to do a musical that touches on everything-something that’s funny and dramatic, but definitely a musical.”
