A Jack Russell terrier can be a little bundle of joy, too

Jamie Clauss is a photographer in Huntsville, Alabama. As a lot of professional photographers do, she frequently takes pictures of couples and their newborns.

One day, Clauss’s studio, Count It Joy photography, was still set up after a shoot, and her friend Jan Renegar remarked, “Oh, I wish I had a baby to do a newborn shoot with you,” Clauss told Buzzfeed.

Then, inspiration struck: “We should just use Snuggles!” Renegar said. She and husband Chase’s Jack Russell turned out to be a natural in front of the camera. “She started falling asleep and snoring,” Clauss said. “It was all we could do not to laugh and wake her up.”

The Renegars – who are photographers as well, specializing in weddings – do intend to have a real child at some point, and Clauss notes that they do have appropriate pet boundaries and “treat their dogs like dogs.” (Which should be good news to some of the commenters who apparently objected to the photos with comments like, “Dogs shouldn’t be people.”)

Though Clauss says she’s already been contacted by someone hoping to arrange their own version of the shoot, she says she’s not sure. “I don’t know how it would go with, like, a German shepherd that I’ve never met before. I don’t think I’m going to be wrapping that thing up.”
