Jake Abel is officially off the market!

The Host star, 25, proposed to writer Allie Woods on New Year’s Eve in Times Square, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“She turned around, and I was on my knee. It was amazing, man. Out of a million people, it was just the two of us,” Abel recently told Nylon.

“Three of my friends were taping the ball drop, and on 3-2-1, they all turned their cameras to us. Unfortunately, not one of them got the money shot!”

The actor, who’s also had roles in Percy Jackson and on Supernatural, says he’s known Wood for years, but the timing was never right.

“We met when I was 17 and she was 19; I was a kid, and she was in a relationship,” he tells the magazine.

The Host, based on Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s 2008 novel, hits theaters Friday.
