My Wedding, My Way
JACKSON & SHEILA
Wedding style: Circus sideshow
Rathbone and bride Hafsadi happily shared the spotlight at their Sept. 29 nuptials – with a sword-swallowing performer entertaining wedding guests, no less. About 150 attendees (including the Twilight alum's former costar Nikki Reed, who was in the wedding party) flocked to the Saddle Peak Lodge in Calabasas, Calif., for their carnival-themed nuptials. And while the bride was all dressed in white (courtesy of Eve Muscio), Rathbone exchanged vows in a tartan suit custom-made by Klein Epstein amp Parker.
CHRISSY & JOHN
Wedding style: Fashion show
Talk about a triple threat: Legend's model bride clocked in not one, not two, but three wardrobe changes at their Sept. 14 wedding, a romantic Italian affair in Lake Como. After exchanging vows – and trading in the standard wedding singer for a serenade by her husband, plus a subsequent performance from Stevie Wonder – Teigen took to Instagram to show off just one of her Vera Wang confections: a strapless ivory gown complete with an open back, lifted tulle skirt and hand-cut petal embroidered details.
AVRIL & CHAD
Wedding style: Rock concert meets Canada Day
Here comes the bride, all dressed in … black! Lavigne picked out a black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown – accented by her bouquet of matching black roses – to wed Nickelback rocker Kroeger on July 1. Although they exchanged vows just outside a 14th-century castle in the South of France, the decision to marry on Canada Day was a nod to their native country. "I wanted it to be over-the-top," Lavigne told Hello magazine. "I'm obsessed with castles, and I love French décor and goth."
KEIRA & JAMES
Wedding style: Casual chic
For her May 4 wedding to The Klaxons keyboard player James Righton, Keira Knightley kept her ceremony and celebration simple – but elegant. Donning a strapless tulle dress, matching jacket and flats all designed by Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, the actress and her beau were married in front of a handful of guests at the town hall in Mazan, France, a small village in Provence. The affair was followed by an afternoon garden luncheon and evening party, where The Klaxons performed, with only 30 to 50 guests invited.
MAMA JUNE & SUGAR BEAR
Wedding style: Southern comfort
It was a down-home celebration for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo's June "Mama June" Shannon and Sugar Bear, who aren't saying whether their May 5 ceremony was an actual wedding or just a way to renew their commitment. "We stayed true to our roots and made the focus on the family," June says of the event, which was attended by daughters Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson), Pumpkin, Chickadee and Chubbs, and held in the family's Georgia backyard. "My sister baked the cake, and we spent most of the money on barbecue ... You can definitely plan an event on a budget!"
MELISSA & TIMOTHY
Wedding style: Local and low-key
For her third trip down the aisle, Gilbert ditched convention and wore a deep red dress to marry Timothy Busfield in a private ceremony at Santa Barbara's San Ysidro Ranch on April 24. “The dress! It was quite a search," Gilbert told PEOPLE. "The moment I saw it, I knew ... and the color spoke volumes. Passion, fire, love: Red says all of those things to me."
NATALIE & BENJAMIN
Wedding style: Traditional Jewish with vegan twist
The Aug. 4 ceremony bonding Natalie Portman to dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied weaved in her Jewish faith, his French culture and the couple's eco-conscious beliefs. After the pair exchanged "I dos" under a rustic chuppah on a bluff overlooking the California coast of Big Sur, guests enjoyed a strictly vegan menu (in keeping with Portman's own diet), snacked on French macarons in lieu of a wedding cake and went home with packets of locally sourced wildflower seeds inscribed with a single word: Merci.
MATTHEW & CAMILA
Wedding style: Lone Star all the way
Matthew McConaughey is a Texas boy through and through, and it showed when he made it official June 9 with longtime girlfriend Camila Alves at their Austin, Texas, property. True to cowboy style, guests camped out under the stars among 47 tents scattered throughout the estate – air-conditioned, of course – and mingled or played ring toss while drinking tequila and beer and eating crawfish and Texas-style barbecue.
KUNAL & NEHA
Wedding style: Traditional Indian ceremony
When Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar married former Miss India Neha Kapur in New Delhi, the pair pulled out all the stops for a ceremony steeped in South Asian traditions: six days of celebration, the groom's arrival on horseback, her intricately hennaed hands, and a ritual circling of a fire seven times. And in lavish fashion, there were 1,000 guests to take in the splendor of it all.
DREW & WILL
Wedding style: Foodie fest
Is it any surprise free-spirited Drew Barrymore tied the knot surrounded by family, fun and food? The star's June 2 backyard wedding to art consultant Will Kopelman on her Montecito, Calif., ranch was "classic, simple, very pretty, garden-inspired," a guest told PEOPLE. The littlest attendees watched kids' movies in a tepee, while adults feasted on lobster rolls, pork buns and steak tartare whipped up by the foodie couple's favorite celeb chefs – and that was before food trucks from L.A.'s Escuela Taqueria and Santa Barbara's Burger Bus rolled in at 1:30 a.m.
NICOLE & JOEL
Wedding style: Over-the-(Big) Top
Nicole Richie is all for dealing with an elephant in the room. Her December 2010 Beverly Hills wedding to Joel Madden drew upon historical royal extravagance – they were inspired by the French palace of Versailles – but it was the pachyderm that greeted their 155 guests that made a lasting impression. "Nicole getting an elephant and not telling me is typical of our relationship," Madden said of his wife's whimsical good-luck charm. "But if there's one time I want her to have the craziest thing she wants, it's the day we marry."
BLAKE & MIRANDA
Wedding style: Down-home fun
What do you get when two of country's biggest stars get married? A true country-music wedding, naturally. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert wed May 14, 2011, in a barn on a Texas ranch, toasted each other with Mason jars, then polished off venison, bourbon and a cake frosted with a "brushed leather finish" – all with a who's who of country music. "There was a little chic and a little redneck, and that's what they are," guest Neal McCoy told PEOPLE.
ERIC & SARAH
Wedding style: Back to nature
NCIS star Eric Christian Olsen and bride Sarah Wright wanted their June 23 nuptials to be rustic and personal, so they exchanged vows against the backdrop of Wyoming's Teton Mountains. Following the ceremony, a bluegrass band played while guests square danced (or played horseshoes) before sitting down to barbecue, s'mores over open fire pits and the couple's favorite dessert – Whitey's Ice Cream – which FedExed in from Iowa.
AMY & CARTER
Wedding style: Green and lean
Amy Smart and TV handyman Carter Oosterhouse met at an environmental conference, so there was never any question that their September 2011 dream wedding in his Michigan hometown would be eco-friendly. Carter used his woodworking skills to build the bar out of reclaimed wood, the dinner and flowers were locally sourced, and even the seating cards were nature-based. Just how green was it? With a 220-person guest list, the couple were left with only a single bag of garbage at the end of the night.
