After two years of marriage, Scarlett Johansson and Romain Duariac have called it quits.

But when Johansson first met the mysterious Frenchman in 2012, sparks immediately flew between the two — something that’s not uncommon for the actress.

“Scarlett has a habit of falling for a guy and moving really fast,” a source tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

After less than a year of dating, the actress was spotted wearing an engagement ring, and the two tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony in 2014, shortly after welcoming their daughter Rose Dorothy.

“She has intense relationships,” the insider notes of Johansson, who was previously married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.

But as quickly as the two fell in love, their relationship began to quietly unravel.

“I’ve been expecting this for some time,” says a source in Dauriac’s circle. “Romain and Scarlett never made sense to me. They aren’t equal. There’s always been something wrong with this picture.”

Despite being separated since last summer, the two continue to step out and support one another. And those close to the couple expect any divorce drama to remain at a minimum.

“They are still friends,” adds the source.
