YouTube beauty guru Ingrid Nilsen announced in an emotional video posted Tuesday that she is gay.

The 26-year-old makeup and hair expert, who has more than 3.3 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, opened up in a 20-minute clip that she felt ready to share her story with her fans and wants to “live my life unapologetically.”

“I guess I’m just going to get right to it. There’s something that I want you to know. That something is, I’m gay. It feels so good to say that,” she said in the post, as tears welled up in her eyes. “It feels so good.”

She went on to say in the video, which has nearly 2 million views, “This moment is real and it’s here and I’ve been waiting for this a long time. I am sitting here today because I care about you guys.”

Nilsen, whose beauty tutorials collect hundreds of thousands of views, explained that she remembers coming to the realization about her sexuality in her early childhood years. She also said she grew up in an environment where homosexuality was not universally accepted.

“It’s just something I’ve always known from my earliest memories it’s just been there. This is not something that I chose. This is something that’s been a part of me and has always been a part of me.”

The onetime Project Runway: Threads judge also touched upon her heterosexual relationships in the past.

“I care about the people that I have been in relationships with and I respect our relationships,” Nilsen said. “The fact that I am gay does not change that.”

She signed off in the clip with a positive message for herself and for her fans.

“I’m proud of who I am and I’m not going to apologize for who I am anymore. This is the life I’ve always lived in my head and now it’s real, and I can’t believe it’s real. I’ve just dreamed about taking this piece of me inside that cabinet and putting it in that space it’s always has inside of me,” she said as she wrapped up her speech. “I’m giving myself my best chance and so should you.”
