Bo Bice, American Idol‘s long-haired rocker, underwent emergency surgery Friday after falling ill prior to Thursday’s show in Las Vegas, MTV reports.

Bice was in Las Vegas with the American Idols Live Tour, which features the top 10 finalists of the season.

Bice’s condition was not immediately known, although sources close to the singer told MTV that he suffered from a kink in his intestines. The singer’s mother said that she could not comment on specifics of his condition, but that he was recovering and “wants the fans to know he’s thankful for their prayers.”

Bice’s absence from the show at the Thomas & Mack Center was noted by fans, who chanted “We want Bo!” Last season’s Idol champ Carrie Underwood returned to the stage to tell fans that Bice had suffered “bad luck” and had been hospitalized, the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.

It wasn’t the first such incident of “bad luck” for Bice, who, earlier on the tour, broke his foot while onstage. He had been performing in a cast since.

In other Idol news, judge Randy Jackson may be getting ready for a morning talk-show host slot, the New York Post reports. Jackson will reportedly team with Lauren Sanchez, host of So You Think You Can Dance, for a morning show that is being billed as an “urban Regis and Kelly” on FOX.

Reps for Jackson nor Sanchez have not commented on the story. The show would likely begin next year.
