Talk about stumping in style.
New York Fashion Week kicked off early with a star-studded fundraiser for Democratic nominee
Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night.
The Made for History Fashion Show, co-hosted by Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, was attended by such A-list designers as Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg and Joseph Altuzarra. It also featured a guest appearance from Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, and a performance from Clinton supporter Demi Lovato.
Abedin was not wearing her wedding ring as she made her first headlining public appearance since her husband Anthony Weiner‘s third sexting scandal broke last week. She, Chelsea and Lovato all wore limited-edition T-shirts designed for the Made for History collection benefiting Clinton’s campaign. Models also hit the runway to show off the original designs by Burch, Jacobs, von Furstenberg and Jason Wu.
Guests paid between $100 to $2,700 to attend the event, where Chelsea paid tribute to her parents and shared how becoming a mother has inspired her to care even more about politics.
“I didn’t know I could care any more about politics and who’s running for political office until I became a mother and found that I could,” she said.
“That surprised me because I grew up spending a lot of times at events like this – not quite like this,” she added. “Not quite as glamorous with not quite such a spectacular view.”
The former first daughter also credited her parents for instilling in her a “deep conviction” that every election “really matters.” “That’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful for all your support here tonight,” she told the crowd. “Because the money we raise tonight will support my mom’s campaign but will also support democrats who are running across the country. Everything we care about is in question at the moment.”
“So I hope you will indeed ensure that love trumps hate and give a round of applause to Anna and all the designers who made tonight possible,” she concluded.
Wintour also paid tribute to Clinton and her love for her daughter, saying, “For me the most unforgettable moment of a very memorable Democratic convention has to be the simple image of a mother backstage watching her daughter deliver her moving introduction.”
“Mrs. Clinton’s pride and love and joy are written all over her face and seeing that picture reminded me of what family is truly about.”

Praising the Made for History collection as “both stylish and distinctive,” Wintour worked in a jab at GOP hopefuls: “Unlike the Republican candidates’ unspeakably hideous ties, our collection is made in America by union workers,” she said.
