How Heath Ledger's Family Is Keeping His Spirit Alive for His Daughter
It’s been seven years since Heath Ledger died, but his sister Kate is working to keep the actor’s memory alive for his daughter, Matilda.
Kate, an author and stylist told The Herald-Sun in Melbourne, Australia, on Saturday, “I love telling [Matilda] stories about her daddy and how he grew up. I think it’s so important for her to have a good sense of where she comes from in order for her to get to know herself.”
Matilda, 9, was just a toddler when the Oscar-winning Australian actor, who starred in films including The Dark Knight and Brokeback Mountain, died in 2008 of an accidental prescription drug overdose. He was just 28.
Kate said that Matilda is “an expressive, creative, beautiful girl,” who is lucky to have “great grounding” from her mother, Michelle Williams, 34.
“Michelle really does keep things ‘real’ for her,” Kate added. “And her existence, although different from most, is as normal as possible in an abnormal world.”
