In 2011, Lopez and Anthony revealed they were ending their 8-year marriage in a statement to PEOPLE. The star couple share custody of their two children, 7-year-old twins Emme and Maximilian. "I felt like my whole life had fallen apart," Lopez said of the breakup. But the singer assures that there's no bad blood: "We love our kids, and we have love for each other. We always will."

It was an affair to remember for two-time Oscar winner (and recent Golden Globe nominee) Jessica Lange and her longtime partner, actor-playwright Sam Shepard, who met while co-starring in the 1982 biopic Frances. While their relationship began with an unwelcome spotlight (Shepard left his wife to be with Lange), the couple maintained a life largely out of public view. But after 27 years together, it was revealed the couple ended their relationship almost two years ago. The pair, who have two children together, Hannah and Samuel, "are pursuing independent lives," a source tells PEOPLE.
CHAZ & JENNIFER
Their life together was filmed for OWN's documentary series Becoming Chaz, as Chaz Bono transitioned female to male. With girlfriend Jennifer Elia by his side, the cameras continued rolling for the follow-up special Being Chaz, which captured the couple's engagement after six years together. But on Dec. 19, the pair ended their engagement. "Thanks for your concern about our separation," Bono, 42, Tweeted. "I'm doing fine, and we remain on good terms with nothing but respect and affection 4 each other."

Following reports of Ashton Kutcher's alleged infidelity, he and wife of six years Demi Moore went camping with their Kabbalah instructor in what was seen as a retreat to mend the relationship. It didn't work: A month later, Moore announced their split, saying, "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life." In reply, Kutcher Tweeted, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi."

After 25 years as husband and wife, Schwarzenegger and Shriver called it quits in 2011, following Schwarzenegger's affair with his former housekeeper, which resulted in a son.

Olivia Wilde's fairy-tale marriage to Italian prince Tao Ruspoli ended on Sept. 29, when the Tron actress's divorce was finalized. "The trauma of the whole thing has been humbling," she told Marie Claire. Since then, the sought-after actress has found good company in Hollywood's hottest bachelors, among them Jake Gyllenhaal and Justin Timberlake.

After 11 years of marriage, James Marsden's wife Lisa Linde filed divorce papers in September. A day after the news broke, the friendly exes appeared happy and relaxed in L.A. with their son Jack, 10. "This was a mutual decision," Marsden's rep told PEOPLE, adding that the couple still plans to raise their two children "together and remain great friends."

Proving that the couple that plays together doesn't always stay together, Saturday Night Live costars Fred Armisen and Abby Elliott ended their year-long relationship shortly before the show's fall return. "He was away all summer filming in Portland, she was on location somewhere else," a source told PEOPLE of the comic duo's decision to call it quits.

After months of breakups and makeups, Kat Von D revealed the real reason behind her final split in September with Jesse James. "Today I encountered the 19th girl to add to the list of people Jesse cheated on me with during the last year," Von D wrote in a blog post on her Facebook page, going so far as to acknowledge that she deserves "a big fat 'I told you so.'"

Five days before her June nuptials to Hugh Hefner, Playmate Crystal Harris had a dramatic change of heart. "It was all just happening too fast for me," the 25-year-old runaway bride told told Ryan Seacrest of why she called off her wedding. But that didn't stop Harris from taking some parting shots at her ex, later telling Howard Stern that sexy with the 85-year-old Playboy founder lasted "like two seconds."
