Oscar winner Holly Hunter is to be a first-time mother – to twins – at age 47, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“She is expecting with twins, and she is due this winter,” says her rep. The gender of the babies is not yet known.

The father is Hunter’s partner, British actor Gordon MacDonald. This will mark his first time out as a dad.

Hunter, who voiced the role of the mother Helen Parr (also known as Elastigirl) in last year’s hit animated movie The Incredibles, won an Oscar for her role as the mute musician in 1993’s The Piano. She also received Oscar nominations for her roles in Broadcast News, The Firm and Thirteen.

Hunter and cinematographer Janusz Kaminski (Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan) were married in 1995 and divorced six years later.

The Georgia-born actress and MacDonald met last November while costarring in the London West End production of playwright Dominic Cooke s By the Bog of Cats, in which she played a woman abandoned by her lover of 14 years, played by MacDonald.

Up next for the actress: The Big White, costarring Robin Williams, which is due out in theaters this fall.
