Celebrity Hizzoner on Jury Duty By People Staff Published on January 13, 1999 12:00 AM Share Tweet Pin Email New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was selected on Monday to serve on a jury to hear a civil case in Manhattan Supreme Court. (The case involves a tenant, 45-year-old Oliver Johnson, who is seeking $6 million from his landlord, claiming he was scalded by a faulty shower. Johnson also wants $1 million on behalf of his wife for loss of his services.) Giuliani was selected from a panel of 125 potential jurors and was named jury foreman. He will be paid a fee of $40 a day, which he will have to turn over to the city, because he’ll still be receiving his $165,000-a-year mayoral salary.
