“Hippie chic” fashion designer Thea Porter, 72, died in London on Monday. She had been suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. During the ’60s and ’70s, Porter’s boutiques in London, Paris and New York offered Oriental carpets and furnishings, as well as clothes, to a clientele that included Elizabeth Taylor, Raquel Welch, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
