Just one year after she left her post as secretary of state in President Barack Obama’s administration, Clinton opened up to PEOPLE in a wide-ranging interview in 2014. The now 67-year-old politician acknowledged that there is a constant cloud of speculation surrounding her then-rumored run for president, saying that she knows that she has “a decision to make.” However, Clinton, who became a grandmother for the first time when daughter Chelsea Clinton gave birth in September 2014, also opened up about her new role on the personal level. Clinton announced on Sunday that she was officially seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2016 election. She previously ran for president during the 2008 election, but ultimately lost the nomination to then-junior Senator Barack Obama. She later joined Obama in his cabinet as the secretary of state, serving from the beginning of his presidency in 2009 through 2013.
