This rehearsal dinner may be televised.
One day before their nuptials, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt celebrated with a rehearsal dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Beverly Hills hot spot, Cut, with about 40 friends – and a camera crew. (The restaurant has special meaning to the couple: Their portraits hang on a wall alongside other stars, and a waiter tells PEOPLE they’re “big fans of Cut.”)
After a private cocktail reception in a second floor meeting room overlooking the Beverly Wilshire Hotel’s lobby, guests made their way to the Cut dining room, where Pratt and Montag took their spots at a head table around 8:30 p.m. Camera crews bustled about, and other cameras were affixed to the head table, where the couple sat alongside Montag’s sister Stephanie and Pratt’s friend, Charlie.
Toasts & Kisses
After dinner – many guests ate steak and started the evening with Kobe beef sliders – the toasts began while dessert was served. Pratt and Montag received well-wishes from several guests, including Stephanie Pratt, before the groom gave a toast to his bride-to-be. She followed his lead, standing and looking into his eyes and speaking from the heart.
The crowd was also warmed by the words, and partyguests applauded when Montag finished. Pratt pulled her onto his lap and gave her a soulful kiss on the lips as the applause continued.
At 11 p.m., the festivities ended, but not before Puck wished the couple and friends well as he stood in the middle of the valet lane, waving goodbye to everyone.
The festivities will continue Saturday afternoon, when Pratt and Montag will tie the knot at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif.
A Sparkly Bride
Earlier on Friday, Pratt and Montag stopped into Neil Lane Jewelry where they picked out her bridal diamonds. “They were really cute!” Lane tells PEOPLE of the two. “She was very excited, like a kid in a candy store.”
After trying on dozens of options, including a diamond tiara, Heidi settled on a pear-shaped diamond floral necklace with multiple diamond chains layered over it; large diamond earrings; diamond hairpins and five wide diamond bracelets.
True to form, Pratt, who borrowed a pair of diamond cufflinks, filmed his bride-to-be while she selected over a million dollars worth of jewels.
“They were endearing and she was having lots of fun,” says Lane. “They’ll be young Hollywood glam and it’s going to be sparkly. She will sparkle!”
