Harrison Ford joked about making a "good landing" at Star Wars Celebration after recent plane trouble
Harrison Ford is rolling with the punches.
The actor made a surprise appearance at the annual Star Wars Celebration on Thursday in Orlando, where he surprised fans during the special 40th anniversary panel. But when moderator Warwick Davis made a joke about Ford’s recent plane troubles, the witty actor handled it as fans expected he would — with a joke.
“I can’t believe we managed to keep it a secret considering you landed your plane on I-4,” Davis said, referring to the local highway in Orlando and earning laughs from the crowd.
The 74-year-old actor laughed along as well, while shaking his head before adding, “Yeah, but it was a good landing.”
Ford made the surprise appearance at the panel alongside costar Mark Hamill and Star Wars creator George Lucas to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first film’s release. Stars such as Hayden Christensen also appeared onstage, while Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson popped up in pre-recorded videos.

At the end of the panel, Carrie Fisher‘s daughter Billie Lourd made a surprise appearance of her own when she walked onstage to honor her late mother and introduce a special tribute reel of the late actress’ greatest moments in the space saga, and her best quotes from past interviews.
Ford was in risk of disciplinary action from the Federal Aviation Administration after he mistakenly landed his single-engine plane on a taxiway instead of a runway, but the FAA concluded its investigation without leveling any sanctions.
He wasn’t the only one to joke about the situation on Thursday.
Peter Mayhew – aka Chewbacca – posted a photo with the actor to Twitter from the event, teasing, “Lovely seeing my buddy.. hell of a pilot.. but I’d love to help out a little with those landings. Always available if he needs a copilot.”
