Best Actress Oscar winner Halle Berry, 35, was injured when dust blew into her eye and left it inflamed on the set of the latest James Bond film, “Die Another Day,” its producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, said in a statement, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. The incident, which required a doctor’s care, occurred while Berry was filming an action sequence last weekend. “As a precautionary measure, the production sought medical attention for what was a slight inflammation,” the producers said. “We are happy to report that Ms. Berry suffered no lasting ill effects and returned to work immediately.” Initial reports said that Berry was injured by a special effect on the set, which caused by the debris of a grenade explosion. The producers denied that story. Britain’s Press Association news agency went on to report that over the weekend the actress was treated in a hospital in Cadiz, southern Spain, by Dr. Antonio Fernandez. “It could have been much more serious. She has been quite lucky, in fact,” the BPA quoted Fernandez as saying. Berry’s role in “Die Another Day,” which is scheduled to open Nov. 22, is that of the sexy Bond girl Jinx. PEOPLE’s most recent Sexiest Man Alive, Pierce Brosnan, 49, plays the seductive spy. In February, Brosnan injured his knee during an action sequence that was being filmed on water and was reportedly out of commission for two weeks.
