An Academy Award nominee for her very first starring role, Hailee Steinfeld would seem to have it all.

But even at 14, the True Grit star – whose movie debuts on home video Tuesday – realizes finding romance in Hollywood may be more difficult than nabbing an Oscar nod.

“I’m not dating,” she told PEOPLE with a laugh at the Young Hollywood Awards at L.A. Live. “I feel like I can have crushes on guys, but I’m always worried they may only feel a certain way because of who I am.”

Even though Steinfeld crushes with concern, it isn’t overbearing her with anxiety.

“I don’t feel like I need to be with anybody in that way right now,” she says. “My guy friends are like my brothers.”

Besides, when the starlet isn’t busy acting, she uses her time in ways that only involve her.

“I love to write,” she tells this reporter. “Like you!”
