After consciously (and now legally) uncoupling, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin continue to find ways to stay connected after their divorce.

From living in neighboring houses to taking family vacations to cheering the kids on at school plays and sporting events, the former couple have remained amicable and united throughout their separation.

Paltrow, 42, and Martin, 38, set the tone for the next phase of their relationship the day after announcing their split by vacationing together in the Bahamas in March 2014 – and coincidentally, they will both be in New York City this week following Monday’s finalization of their divorce, according to a source.

In an effort to make sharing custody of their two children as seamless as possible, Martin purchased a home in Paltrow’s Los Angeles neighborhood in August 2014, where he stays with Apple, 10, and Moses, 9, during the weeks he spends with them. The Coldplay frontman also keeps a beachfront property in Malibu.

Last summer, Martin leased a house in New York’s Hamptons that was near Paltrow’s, so that they could both vacation with the kids. The couple even attended a screening of Hector and the Search for Happiness together in East Hampton.

Despite actively dating other people – Martin’s been seeing Jennifer Lawrence and Paltrow’s stepped out with producer Brad Falchuk – the friendly exes spent Valentine’s Day together on the beach in Malibu with their kids and some friends.

Next came a family trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for spring break in March. The stars were spotted relaxing together during the five-day getaway.

The two have stayed true to their principles of "conscious uncoupling" by putting their kids first, and all indications are that they will continue to do so.

As Paltrow told Howard Stern in January, “We’re always going to be a family.”
