Gwyneth Drops Wings

Don’t look for Gwyneth Paltrow to join Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore in the upcoming big-screen version of the popular ’70s series “Charlie’s Angels,” the show that made Farrah Fawcett’s hair famous. New York’s Daily News says the 1999 Oscar-winner (for “Shakespeare in Love”) bailed out of the project once she discovered that her salary didn’t match the $12 million paycheck Diaz is reported to be taking home. Other possible candidates mentioned for the third “Angels” role: Angelina Jolie, Lauryn Hill, Liv Tyler, Jada Pinkett Smith and Penelope Cruz — but you can forget all of them, claims the News. The plum role shall go to Thandle Newton, who costarred with Oprah Winfrey in the ill-fated “Beloved” and who just finished “Mission: Impossible 2” with Tom Cruise.
