Celebrity 'I Was So Embarrassed': Gwen Stefani Says She Hit 'Rock Bottom' During Divorce from Gavin Rossdale Stefani opened up about her 2015 split from Rossdale in a weekend interview with CBS Sunday Morning By Adam Carlson Published on March 19, 2016 10:25 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Getty Gwen Stefani is opening up again about the “horrible, crazy explosion” that rocked her life when she and Gavin Rossdale announced their divorce in August 2015. “At that time everything was like I had no skin, it was so raw,” Stefani said on CBS’ Sunday Morning, in an interview slated to air this weekend. “Nobody knew what was happening, and I had this big secret.” “During that time period, I felt like I was down all the way, like, you don’t go down lower than that,” Stefani said. “It was rock bottom. I was so embarrassed, you know what I mean?” While Stefani, 46, has kept private many of the details of her split from Rossdale, she told the New York Times earlier this month that is is “a really good, juicy story.” “I’m gonna die,” Stefani told the Times of her mindset then. “I am dead, actually. How do I save myself? What am I going to do? How do I not go down like this?” A source confirmed to PEOPLE in 2015 that Stefani had discovered Rossdale having an ongoing affair with their children’s nanny. (Rossdale, 50, has not commented on the allegations.) Speaking to Sunday Morning, Stefani said she turned to music as a way to deal with her heartbreak. “I just was like, ‘Wow, I have to turn this into something. I can’t go down like this,’ ” she said. Her new album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, was released Friday. Music helped her another way, too, Stefani told CBS: She sparked a romance with Blake Shelton while both served as coaches on The Voice. “In all this craziness that happened, like unexpected horribleness, I found a friend who was going through literally the exact same thing as me, and that is a miracle,” Stefani said. “And it just saved me so much, and I feel so grateful for that.”
