Green Day’s longtime guitarist, Jason White, has cancer, the group announced on Friday.

The band released a statement on their website alerting fans to White’s condition.

“We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread,” the announcement read.

“Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.”

Green Day is set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2015.

In the meantime, fans are taking to Twitter to wish White a fast recovery.
