Grammy Nominee Tia Carrere Gets Tranquil in Hawaii

Dancing with the Stars alum Tia Carrere has made quite a splash as a singer – nabbing a Grammy nod in the best Hawaiian music album category for her album Hawaiiana. Recently the singer returned to her home state with her 2-year-old daughter, Bianca Wakelin, where the local celeb made a different kind of splash. A literal one – as she and her daughter took a dip with a dolphin.

Apart from the picture-perfect moment, Carrere told PEOPLE that visiting Hawaii inspires her to “slow down enough to life’s every moment.” Staying in the moment has really inspired her songs, she says. But so has her daughter. “I just wanted to have something for her,” Carrere says of Hawaiiana. “The importance of Hawaii in my life and in my heart is something that I want to keep alive for her . . . and so this is a lullaby to her.”
